Phyllis Watkins has been Executive Director of Alzheimer's Arkansas Programs and Services for 11 years. Phyllis' primary areas of expertise are helping caregivers to become more effective caregivers through group training sessions and individual "counseling," and training professional caregivers about Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome. In addition to her duties as an administrator, she also makes presentations, facilitates support groups, edits the monthly newsletter, and provides in-service training. Under her leadership, Alzheimer's Arkansas has implemented Arkansas' first early-stage patient support group, the annual Hope for the Future Symposium, the Healthy Caregiver Retreat Weekend, and has awarded over $500,000 in grants to family caregivers.
