Pham H. Liem, M.D., is a physician with UAMS Medical Center's Center on Aging and a Professor of Geriatric Medicine at UAMS. He is also the Jackson T. Stephens Chair of Geriatric Clinical Affairs. Dr. Liem earned his medical degree at the University of Saigon in 1973, where he was the top graduate in his class. He completed internships in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and neurology at Cho-Ray Hospital in Saigon and later came to UAMS to serve his residency in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, where he was Chief Resident from 1979 - 1980. He also completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the V.A. Hospital and in UAMS' Department of Medicine. Dr. Liem, who specializes in Alzheimer's Disease and dementia, was chosen by his peers (in 1996, 1998 and 2005) to be listed under Geriatrics in the publication Best Doctors in America, a listing of the top one percent of physicians chosen as the best in their fields by other physicians. He was also listed in America's Top Doctors in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. He is a member of the Gerontological Society of America, the American Geriatric Society and the American Academy of Family Physicians and has written extensively on geriatric healthcare issues.
