Suzie Hicks

Suzie Hicks is originally from Virginia and has a B.S. in Biology from U. of Richmond. She has been involved in working to get funding to improve programs for individuals with mental retardation. She is a mother of six children and her oldest daughter, Pamela, now age 45, has Down syndrome. Suzie is the President of the Arkansas Down Syndrome Association and has been working to help establish a special clinic in Arkansas dedicated to the treatment of individuals with Down syndrome and to improve communication among parents of individuals with Down syndrome throughout the state. Suzie is committed to this cause and has dedicated much time and effort to it. She also serves as a member on the Alzheimer's Demonstration Grant, “Bridging the Gap,” Task Force which has been convened to study and identify the prevalence and needs of individuals in Arkansas who have Alzheimer's disease and a developmental disability and make recommendation for services.
